Anterior Segment, Cornea, Phacoemulsification, & Refractive Surgery
Dr. Reuben Rama Aquino heads the ACES TEAM being the most experienced. A well known anterior segment specialist and a respected expert on corneal transplantation, he is also one of the pioneer small-incision cataract surgeons in the country. His areas of expertise includes anterior segment reconstruction, and refractive surgery. He performed the first PRK and LASIK in Cebu. He did his pre med in USC and got his medical degree from CIM (Cebu Institute of Medecine). He apprenticed at the Cebu EENT Clinic after which he took the Ophthalmology Basic course in Stanford University. He proceeded to an Ophthalmology Residency in UP-PGH .

Retina & Vitreous
Dr. Victorio Naranjo Cajita is the first retina specialist in Cebu. A tireless Ophthalmology "missionary" he has joined or headed countless medical missions around the Visayas and Mindanao bringing the gift of sight to hundreds of underprivileged. He was a national state scholar in UP (University of the Philippines) Diliman and proceeded to the UP College of Medicine. Finishing in 1981. He was chief resident when he completed his Ophthalmology residency at the UP PGH in 1985. He completed a two year Retina Fellowship with Dr. Felipe Tolentino at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of the Medical School in Boston.

Glaucoma
Dr. Teodoro Kintanar Gonzales, a pioneer graduate of the Cebu City Science High School, is the region's sole glaucoma specialist and is often called upon to lecture on this topic. Fortunately he enjoys teaching. He finished his pre med cum laude in UP (University of the Philippines) Diliman and obtained a medical degree from UP (University of the Philippines) in 1982. Aside from his Ophthalmology residency in UP-PGH, he also did a glaucoma fellowship under Dr. Richard Simmons at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of the Harvard Medical School in Boston.

Oculoplastic, Orbit & Refractive Surgery
Dr. Ronald Rellosa Medalle, an Oculoplastic surgeon is the son of the venerable Dr. Ptolomeo Medalle, for decades widely recognized as one of the most successful eye surgeons in Cebu. The younger Dr. Medalle shares his fathers easy going and friendly personality and his love for sports. He got his medical degree from the CIM (Cebu Institute of Medecine) and was the first graduate of the Residency Program of the Cebu Doctors Hospital. He took a basic Ophthalmology course in Stanford University after which he did a fellowship in oculoplastic surgery at the St. Francis Medical Center in Honolulu Hawaii.

Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus
Dr. Loren Yap Ong is the youngest of the ACES team and takes care of our youngest patients since he is the only Pediatric Ophthalmology in the region. He got his medical degree from the CIM (Cebu Institute of Medecine) and finished his residency at the Cebu (Velez) General Hospital. He did his fellowship in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus (cross-eyed or libat) at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California before joining the ACES TEAM.
